New Executive Director
We’re excited to announce the appointment of Britt Stautmeister as our Executive Director. She brings a wealth of experience in leadership, animal advocacy and service. Britt has a strong background in community outreach and fundraising, making her the perfect fit to lead Highland Lakes Canine Rescue (HLCR) and mission to rescue, rehabilitate and find forever homes for dogs face special needs.
"I am truly honored to join HLCR, an organization I have long admired for its dedication to rescuing, treating and rehoming dogs in need," said Britt. "I look forward to working with the community, staff, volunteers and supporters to expand our life-saving efforts and continue to make a difference in the lives of these often-overlooked but wonderful animals.
A proud native Texan, animal enthusiast and foodie, I grew up in Alvin, Texas, before earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin in 2009.
After spending 15 fulfilling years in the Greater Houston area, my heart remained anchored in the Hill Country. I fell in love with the Highland Lakes area during visits to family in Buchanan Dam. I knew had to find my way back. When the opportunity arose less than a year ago, I eagerly embraced it, confident that the Highland Lakes community was where I belonged.
As the new Executive Director of HLCR, I bring along 15 years of experience in sales, marketing and networking to elevate our rescue's mission in Marble Falls and neighboring areas. My goal is to foster personal connections with donors, volunteers, and community partners to broaden our outreach. I couldn't be more excited to join this remarkable team! There’s no greater joy than ensuring our pups receive the care they deserve while playing a crucial role in enhancing fundraising efforts and promoting our unique mission at HLCR."
Welcome to our HLCR Community Britt!
Join us for fun and food all for our volunteers!
If by some chance you didn't receive your invitation please let Janelle know (janelleb@hlcr.org).
This event is hosted by the HLCR board and staff. It's a great opportunity to visit fellow volunteers, staff, board and our new Executive Director. We hope to see you there!
Diamond Update: Farley
This adorable Bassett was rescued by Medina Animal Control from a neglect abuse situation. Found in terrible condition, Farley suffered from demodex mange, a non-contagious condition that causes skin irritation, discomfort, pain and hair loss. He also had mysterious growths that needed to be checked, one later confirmed to be a large cyst. The rest were just growths common for old dogs! His cyst was removed by our veterinary partners. Demodex is also highly treatable. Our staff gave him daily, medicated treatments that specifically targeted the mange. Now that his health is reclaimed, Farley is back on his paws and ready to be in a loving, dedicated home he deserves!
